Subang Airport is closer than you think

Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, still called Subang Airport by everyone in the Klang Valley, sits between Petaling Jaya and Shah Alam, roughly 25 km west of the city centre. It handles Firefly and Batik Air turboprop flights, private jets and charters. If your ticket says SZB rather than KUL, this is your airport, and the transfer into Kuala Lumpur is a short one: 35 to 45 minutes to a KLCC or Bukit Bintang hotel, a little less to Mont Kiara or Damansara.

Because it is small, there is no long walk and no queue of coaches. There is also no KLIA Ekspres and only an occasional Grab supply at peak times, which is why regular Subang travellers book a car in advance.

Where your driver meets you

Walk out of baggage claim to Level 1 and look for Door 6. Your driver waits there with a name board showing your booking name. Driver name and WhatsApp number arrive the evening before, and we track the flight so an early or late landing does not change anything on your side.

Subang to a Kuala Lumpur hotel

The driver takes the Federal Highway or the NKVE and Sprint depending on the time of day. Weekday evenings between 5 pm and 7 pm are the slow window, when the Federal backs up near Asia Jaya; drivers then use the Sprint into Mont Kiara and the Damansara link into the city. Enter the hotel name at checkout and you are dropped at the lobby. The fare covers fuel, tolls and waiting time; there is no night or luggage surcharge.

Subang to KLIA for a connection

Landing at Subang on a Firefly flight and connecting to an international departure at KLIA is common, and the two airports are on opposite sides of the Klang Valley. The private transfer takes the NKVE to the ELITE and reaches KLIA in about 1 hour 15 minutes; the slot is booked as 90 minutes to absorb traffic. Allow at least four hours between your Subang landing and your KLIA departure, and tell us the KLIA airline so the driver drops you at KLIA1 or KLIA2. Kuala Lumpur hotel to Subang Airport

Book the KL city hotels to Subang Airport option. Subang check-in is quick, so a pickup 2 hours before a domestic Firefly departure from central KL is comfortable, or 2 and a half hours on a weekday evening. The driver waits in the lobby at the booked time and carries the bags.
